Seven international experiences that push the boundaries of Immersive Non-Fiction and Impact Storytelling.

IMMERSIVE NON-FICTION

21-22 China
Thierry Loa | 2023 | VR Film | Canada
The project takes us on an immersive meditative journey across the largest superpower of the East, for a rare inside look revealing the Anthropocenic reality in these parts of the world where mass urbanisation, major industrial development and expansive topographical changes are taking place.

Awavena
Lynette Wallworth | 2023 | VR Film | Australia
The project is a collaboration between a community and an artist, melding technology and transcendent experience so that a vision can be shared, and a story told of a people ascending from the edge of extinction.

Draw for Change: We Exist, We Resist
Mariana Cadenas Sangronis | VR Interactive | Belgium
Enter the vibrant world of Maremoto, a young Mexican cartoonist who, through her drawings, empowers women and addresses the taboos of her society.

Visit Maremoto’s studio, join her on an afternoon of making street art and experience what it feels like to move as a woman through a metropolis in Mexico, a country where 10 women are murdered every day and tens of thousands go missing.

Emperor
Marion Burger, Ilan J. Cohen | 2023 | VR Interactive | France
An interactive and narrative experience in virtual reality, which invites the user to travel inside the brain of a father suffering from aphasia. It is the story of a man who's lost his ability to speak, and of the daughter trying to communicate with him.

DIGITAL STORYTELLING

Impact Stories | Mature Audience

Dance Permit Denied
Claudix Vanesix | 2023 | VR Film | Peru
Claudix Vanesix was born as a woman, but now goes through life as a non-binary trans person. It is impossible for them to participate in the traditional Peruvian dance Los Negritos de Sipsa, which is passed down in their family from father to son, cutting them off from part of their own culture. Experience a crossover of theatrical performance and dance.

Darkening
Ondrej Moravec | 2023 | VR Interactive | Czech Republic
How is the world perceived by someone with depression? The short, animated documentary uses virtual reality to address depression and the ways to cope with it using your voice and touch to find your way through the darkening.

Human Violins
Iona Mischie | 2023 | VR Interactive | Romania
Immerse yourself in the poignant narrative of Alma, a 15-year-old violin enthusiast navigating the horrors of the Holocaust. Through interactive gameplay and music creation, players embark on a journey of liberation, transforming claustrophobic wires into instruments while exploring the legacy of survival through the real stories of rescued violins.
